  10. So this is a blog I had already created, though much to my embarrassment, it had been dormant for over a year. But no longer, I am resurrecting said music blog as of today. #MusicNerd

    1. Hey Vicky:

I checked out your blog tonight, and I will say this: well-done! As I read your latest entry, I was reminded of the required reading by Clark (2014).

He notes that while a creative title is imperative, it is almost equally important to ensure to craft a strong opening. I noticed Clark's third suggestion - "Invoke the Mind's Eye' - in your entry....you mentioned it's been a long time since you did the stroll... I pictured you doing just that, in another life, and how now you are picking that up again.

As a suggestion, I would play on that a little more, particularly how it relates to your overall theme of music...nurture that visual to make it even stronger.

I hope you keep up with your blog and that you attract a plethora of readers. Good luck!

    1. Hi Jim,

I am also a sun and sand aficionado who loves to spend time in sunny hot spots! Your blog makes me nostalgic for fabulous beaches and the ability to go outside with only one layer of clothing! There are some fabulous beaches in Thailand, Cuba and Honduras as well if you want more photos. The Maui blog has a dreamy, romantic feel and I thought you used your visuals and links (Expedia) very well. The booking information sounds a bit like a travel agency, who's your commercial sponsor, and will they pay me to go too?!
Overall I think you've done a good job! Nice work!

    Good morning, everyone:

Sorry for the possible repeat post for some of you. I had posted this introductory post about me, my field of study and what role communication plays in my work in our last in-class session, as per the course syllabus; however, I do not see it in the blog anywhere, so it's likely lost in cyberspace somewhere. *sigh* If you've already read it, and this is a duplicate, my apologies.

I am originally from Manitoba and moved to Alberta in 2008 after I accepted a position in corporate communications with the Government of Alberta. Prior to moving to the Oil Province, I worked in journalism for several years, a career I changed to after in 2003 after more than 10 years working in social services and in management, overseeing a team that provided supports to people labeled with intellectual disabilities.

I am a graduate of the Creative Communications program at Red River College in Winnipeg and am presently working towards my MA in Professional Communications from Royal Roads University. This citation in Social Media will help enhance that education and my day-to-day professional work. I am also almost finished my studies in the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration Program (NACLAA) from the Univ. of Alta.

In 2010, I started working for the Town of Stony Plain as the Corporate Communications Officer, and had the privilege of creating the communications function from scratch in that organization. In April 2014, I stepped down from the position and moved into the Senior Director, Corporate Communications role at The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (The AUMA).I am looking forward to the new challenges of leading this team but am glad I can continue working in the field of local (municipal) government.

I oversee all aspects of communications, including internal/external/online (including social media); issues management/crises communications; and strategic planning. I support several stakeholders from various organizations throughout the province.
